OUR LADY OF HOPE PTA

On Wednesday, November 9, 2011, Our Lady of Hope Regional School will be participating in our first Race for Education. We invite family and friends to join us in helping to raise funds in order to continue to provide a quality education and affordable tuition. Each participant will raise funds by asking sponsors to contribute a tax deductible donation to Our Lady of Hope PTA.
Students may walk or jog around a 1/4 mile area as many times as they are able in one hour’s time. Students and classes will also have an opportunity to receive a number of prizes based on their participation in the Race for Education. Specific instructions are contained in the attached material. Please join us in this very special event.
RACE FOR EDUCATION FACTS
Race for Education is an annual jog-a-thon, which involves students walking and/or jogging around a 1/4 mile area for one hour.
The success of Race for Education is based on students bringing in the names of people who are potential sponsors for the jog-a-thon.
However, there is no “house-to-house” sign-up of potential sponsors. It is all done by filling in a label sheet of names. For every 10 names that a student brings in, our school should receive at least $75.00 in contributions.
Potential sponsors may be family members, relatives, close friends, and neighbors. Special emphasis should be placed on out-of-state relatives and friends. Also, the people you do business with are a great source of names, e.g., barber, dentist, doctor, piano teacher, etc.
Our Race for Education will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2011.
“Kick-off” information about Race for Education will be sent home with each student next week.
There are incentives and prizes to help promote the success of Race for Education, which encourage student and classroom participation (e.g., Treasure Box Prize Cards, Snack or Bake Sale Coupons, Jeans & School T-shirt Day Passes, Dress Down Day Passes, Ice Cream Parties, $25 “Toys R Us” Gift Card, $25” iTunes” Gift Card, $25 “Deptford Mall” Gift Card, LIMO Lunch, OLOH Water Bottles).
Race for Education is great fun for the students, no hassle to parents, and will fully benefit our school’s educational program!

Race for Education
By Rachel Robb & Alex Christofidis
November 9, 2011 was our school’s first ever Race for Education. Race for Education is a great fundraiser coordinated by our own PTA. Each student walked for one whole hour, raising money as they walk. This was a great idea, and all of the students had lots of fun. Healthy snacks like oranges, bananas, and soft pretzels were provided along with water bottles, to keep our energy up. According to the students, it was “awesome”, “fun”, and “a great way to get fit”. There were fun prizes to win, and the whole school raised enough money for an ice cream party and a pancake breakfast! It was a great day full of exercise, donations, and great weather!
